The Town of Kershaw is delaying the payment of Hospitality Taxes collected for the Month of March 2020.  Hospitality Taxes that are due for March and April must be paid to the Town on May 29th, 2020. 

 

The Town's Business Licenses that were due April 30th, 2020, the collection date has been delayed until June 15, 2020.

The Town of Kershaw is now under a State of Emergency beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday, March 17th, 2020 until the Governor lifts the South Carolina State of Emergency.  Town Hall will only be opened to the public through the drive-thru window.  Utility payments will be received by the drive-thru window, online,mail or deposited in the drop box located in the drive-thru.

TOWN COUNCIL MEETING MONDAY, MARCH 16TH, 2020

With the pandemic caused by the COVID-19 and the impact it is having on the community Town Council has taken the following action:

  1. Mayor Mark Dorman declared a 'STATE OF EMERGENCY' in the Town of Kershaw effective 8 a.m. Tuesday, March 17th, 2020.

  2. TOWN HALL will be OPEN, however, ALL BUSINESS will be conducted VIA PHONE, INTERNET, DROP-BOX or DRIVE-THRU WINDOW.  No one other than authorized personnel will be allowed to enter Town Hall.   

  3. Utility Payments will be taken via mail, online payments, through the drive-thru or deposited in the drop box.

  4. Utility Service provided by the Town of Kershaw will NOT be suspended or disconnected for non-payment during the State of Emergency.

  5. ALL RECREATIONAL BUILDINGS and ACTIVITIES were CLOSED at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 17th, 2020.  This includes all parks which include Stevens Park, Marion Street Park and Richards Park, playgrounds, tennis courts, Marion Boan Community Center, Kershaw Golf Course and Country Club.  These will remain closed until the State of Emergency is lifted by the Governor of South Carolina.

  6. All festivities & events have been cancelled for all parks, community centers and the golf course/country club that are owned by the Town of Kershaw.

  7. Essential Personnel will remain at work.  This includes the Utility Department, Street Department and Sanitation Department.

  8. GARBAGE SERVICE will run on a NORMAL SCHEDULE.

  9. Council Meetings have been postponed until the State of Emergency is lifted.

  10. Close Circle will be closed to traffic during this State of Emergency.

SCDOT NEWS RELEASE

Lancaster County Road Closure for Hoover Road.  Hoover Road (S29-127) will be closed at mile point .95 for bridge repair.  Estimated date of completion is Monday, April 27th, 2020.

YEARLY FIRE HYDRANT FLUSHING

It’s that time of year again when the Town of Kershaw will be flushing fire hydrants within Town Limits.  Starting Wednesday, April 8th through Friday, April 10th, during the hours of 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., fire hydrants will be flushed by garbage pickup zones.   Water customers may experience discolored water and/or low pressure during the flushing process.  If you have any concerns or questions, please contact the Town Clerk’s Office at (803) 475-6065.

Mayor Mark Dorman invites the residents of Kershaw to chat!  From 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. on the first Wednesday of the month, on a first-come, first serve basis, one can have a conversation about Kershaw!  The next Meet the Mayor is Wednesday, May 6th from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. at Town Hall.
